YPAS Vocal department holds holiday concert

On Dec. 12, 2011, the YPAS Vocal department had a holiday concert at the Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church. The concert was an opportunity for students to perform what they had been working on, along with a few holiday favorites.

Each choir performed a set of songs, including “Holly Jolly Christmas,” “Carol of the Bells,” and “We Wish you a Merry Christmas.”

Although this performance wasn’t as big as the department’s Messiah concert, performed a week earlier, this gave the entire vocal department a chance to sing together. “The holiday concert isn’t our best concert, but I look forward to working more on our spring performances,” said Kate Stottmann (10).

Some members, including Micah McClain (12), sang solos. “I’ve wanted to sing a solo at a concert since my freshmen year. I’ve done smaller solos in choral pieces in the past, but I feel like I was able to make my presence known this time while still showing off how much I’ve grown vocally,” said McClain.

There will be many small performances for every choir over the next semester. However there won’t be a major vocal department concert until late spring.
