RECAP: 2021 fall sports

Cross country:

The girls’ cross-country team won the Region Three tournament and came second in the KHSAA State Championship. Jessica Secor (11, HSU) led the girls’ cross-country team by placing first in the Region Three Tournament and top 20 in the state. This season was a building year, focused on packing for the boys’ team as they placed 13 in the state tournament.

Field hockey:

On an 11-14 season, the field hockey team won the Fourth Regional Championship in a 10-0 shutout against Holy Cross. The team also advanced to the KHSAA State Semifinals, in which they lost 2-0 to Sacred Heart.

Football: 

Friday, the varsity football team’s season ended following a 16-18 loss in the KHSAA 6A playoffs against St. Xavier. The team completed their season with an 8-3 overall record. The football team had multiple dominating wins and ranked as high as third in the 6A state.
“I feel like we played together as a whole and gave it our everything we just had fell short,” Ramont Townsend (12, HSU) said.

Boys’ soccer: 

The boys’ soccer team finished their season with a 16-3-2 record, including winning the Seventh Regional Championship and key wins against Male and St. Xavier. The team advanced to the KHSAA State Tournament, where they lost 3-2 to North Oldham in the Sweet 16 after two overtimes. 

Girls’ soccer: 

The girls’ soccer team completed their season, winning the 25 District Championship with a 10-8 record. Their season came to an end on Oct. 13 following a loss to Assumption in the regional tournament, though the team had key regional wins such as Ballard and Male. 

Volleyball: 

The volleyball team finished their season 22-13 led by junior Nya Bunton, who won Manual September athlete of the month. Their twenty-two-win season includes a 6-3 in their district and playing in the 25 District Tournament.
