On Aug. 28 2024, duPont Manual’s class of 2025 gathered in the courtyard to hear from the potential class officers that would represent the senior student body. The candidates brought Chick-fil-A and popsicles for the voters to endorse their campaigns. The nominees are broken into three slates.
Slate One is composed of Petra Limbong (12, HSU), running for president, Abby Gentner (12, MST) for vice president, Amari Grayson (12, HSU) for secretary, Jake Harmon (12, MST) for treasurer, Sammie Haden (12, J&C) for historian and Katie Piatt (12, YPAS) for parliamentarian.
To start off the rally, Limbong delivered a riveting speech describing his vision for the class of 2025.
“So if you want that field day, we will make it happen. If you want that ice cream social, we will make that happen. And if you want a good senior year, we will make that happen,” Limbong said.
Slate Two consists of Leah Niemann (12, HSU) for president, Tejaswin Gonta (12, MST) for vice president, Anthony Northington (12, HSU) for secretary, Maggie May (12, VA) for treasurer, Grayson Delgado (12, HSU) for historian and E’ternity Starks (12, YPAS) for parliamentarian.
Slate Two emphasized the high cost of prom tickets last year under Slate One’s control and promised to increase fundraising to improve the cost.
“We want to hear our class and represent that and execute that and make our senior year as memorable as possible,” Niemann said.
Slate Three includes Alena Polimati (12, HSU) for president, Ryan Shinkle (12, MST) for vice president, Yewande Olusesan-Adu (12, J&C) for secretary, Ethan Aarvig (12, HSU) for treasurer, Daniel Abrams (12, HSU) for parliamentarian and Autumn Harper (12,YPAS) for historian.
Slate Three explained that their school spirit outshines the competition.
“We’re funny, we have personality on social media and we’re trying to make sure we’re understanding what the student body wants and giving it to them,” Polimati said.
All three slates roused the crowd with powerful statements and promises. To find more information and how to vote, visit the instagram pages for Slate One, Slate Two and Slate Three. Voting ends Aug. 30 at 12:40 p.m.
“Make sure that you’re out there voting at least for one of these three slates,” Niemann said.
