New Teachers: Ms. Kathleen Kronauer
Name: Ms. Kathleen Kronauer
Position: YPAS Assistant Principal
On why she enjoys YPAS: “It’s exciting to be around all this energy. Coming from the entertainment industry, it’s very business-y. So the energy around this place is very fantastic, and that makes me feel good about what I’ve been doing for the past 20-plus years… As I have been here for just about the past month, the energy that everyone has around Manual and around YPAS and around the other magnets here is so intense. It has made me excited, and it made me remember why I took the path that I took.”
On the difficult aspects of working at YPAS: “The schedule has been hard to adjust to. Normally, in the theatre, you typically come in later in the day because you are there much later in the evening, and here it is an early start of school.”
On her career prior to YPAS: “When I was in college I went to WKU for broadcasting, and we lived in a dorm that was down the hall from some YPAS kids, and we became friends. They were just such fun people who were so excited and passionate about what they were doing. I that was when I started freaking out and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? Is there really a high school where you can focus just on the performing arts?’ I ended up getting a minor in broadcasting and changing my major to theatre with a second minor in dance.”
