Boys’ basketball team says farewell

After years of sharing sweat, tears, and celebrations together, the ten senior members of the boys’ basketball team have to say goodbye. The team finished 19–11 this season, putting them at number 21 in the state.

One senior, Bryan Repishti, remembered one specific moment that stands out from his four years on the team. “In the fourth quarter of the game at Ballard this year, I led a huge fourth-quarter comeback and basically hit the game-winning shot on their floor, except my coach called a timeout right before the shot,” he said. Although the boys didn’t win that game, Repishti still considers this one of his favorite memories from the team, and plans to continue to play basketball at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Noel Ekman, who hopes to attend the University of Kentucky, is not planning on playing basketball in college but still cherishes his time with Manual boys’ basketball. According to Ekman, being on Manual’s team has taught him that he has to work all the time to achieve the goals he sets. “My advice for any future Manual basketball players is to work harder than we did and to play together,” he said.

For Jordan Bond, winning the district championship is easily his favorite moment from spending four years on the team. Bond’s dream, like some other senior boys, is to continue to play basketball for the rest of his life. All ten seniors have worked hard together and are sad to see their time at Manual come to an end.  They do agree on one piece of advice, Bond said: “Always work hard in everything you do. The ones who work the hardest go the furthest.”
