Manual Field Hockey Stomps Male

On September 13, 2012, the Manual field hockey team overpowered Male. Manual won 5-0, with two of the goals coming from Hannah Kingsbury (12).

Manual was looking for revenge from last years regular season loss and their first goal came early. Kingsbury slapped one in with 18:55 remaining in the first half. “Since it’s a Male-Manual game there is already a natural rivalry but it was even more intensified because they beat us last year,” said Kingsbury.

Two more goals were scored in the first half. One came with 8:43 remaining by Leah Thompson (11). The other, with just four minutes until halftime by Alice Darling (12).

Hannah Kingsbury got her second goal of the season, and the game, with just five minutes into the second half. “It’s such a gratifying feeling because you are working so hard on the field as a team and it’s nice when the scoreboard reflects that effort,” Kingsbury said.

Then, just four minutes later, Catherine Anderson (12) put one in the back of the net. Anderson was  right in front of the cage when she flicked it in and scored the final goal of the game. “Beating Male at any sport is always a great feeling because we are so competitive with one another. We knew we should have won the game last year so this year we had to prove it,” said Anderson.
