Dazzlers compete in Florida and make top twenty

The duPont Manual Dazzlers competed in the Universal Dance Association (UDA) National Competition in Orlando, Fl. on Feb. 2 and 3 taking 16th in Pom division and 11th in the hip-hop division.

This is the first time the Dazzlers attended this competition and it is the largest one in which they have competed.

In the Pom division, they competed in the small varsity category against seventy-five teams and in small varsity hip-hop they went up against sixty-two teams. Only one-fourth of the teams competing made it to the finals and Manual made it to the finals in both categories.

The preliminary and semifinal rounds were held on Saturday, Feb. 2 and the finals were on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Team sponsor, Kitty Cianfoni, stated, “This is a huge accomplishment and their coach is extremely proud of them.”

Coach Rachel Meade tweeted afterwards, “So proud of my Manual Dazzlers! Top 20 in Hip Hop & Pom! Our 1st year at UDA Nationals!”

“We achieved our goal of making it to finals. We could have placed better if we didn’t have individual mistakes, but making it to the top 20 is great,” said Mary Dyche (10).

Coming up for the Dazzlers is the Kentucky Dance Coach Organization (KCDO) state competition in Frankfort, Kentucky on Feb. 23. Once again, the team qualified in both the Pom and hip-hop categories.
