Lady Crimsons Crowned LIT Champs

The top seeded Lady Crimsons defeted the Mercy Jaguars on Saturday, January 29 at Bellarmine University in the annual Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT) championship game 48-46. Mechael Guess (12) was awarded the Tournament MVP, April Wilson (11), who’s final steal guaranteed the victory, won the Bunny Daugherty Defensive Player of the Tournament, and LeAsia Wright (11) was named to the All-Tournament Team. Kara Wright led Manual with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Juliann Miller led all scorers for Mercy with 12 points.

Former Lady Crimson, Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin (St. John’s University) said, “[I’m] so proud of the team for winning the LIT. They’ll be on the road to Diddle soon!”

The next step for the Lady Crimsons is preparing for the state competition that will be played at Western Kentucky University’s Diddle Arena.
