Ryan West (11, #1) received the Most Valuable Player of the defensive line award for the 2012-13 varsity football team. West was awarded MVP at the football banquet in December 2012.
West was a leader for his teammates and peers all season long. “He’s a great leader in the weight room and on the field,” Aaron Riddick (10), a fellow football player, said. “Its good to have him as a captain.”
“I work hard and always put in an effort to do my best this year,” West said. “I’m really looking forward to spring ball and hopefully beating Male again.”
Out of his entire outstanding season, he likes to think of the Manual vs. Butler game as his best game of the season. “I had around ten tackles, which is a lot, and two tackles,” West said.
West maintains his 3.2 GPA but his skills off the field have attracted him to Vanderbilt University. “I’m looking into Vanderbilt right now and they have showed interest in me but I haven’t committed to a school yet,” West said.
