The varsity football team defeated PRP at Manual on Friday, Sept. 12 with a score of 43-0.

This was the Crimsons’ first time playing without Michael Nero (12, #27) and starting Trae Gordon (12, #22) on the running back spot. Gordon played well and scored a 27-yard touchdown. Tim Comstock (11, #3) threw the ball for three touchdown passes. Jordon Gonzalez  (12) returned a kick-off for a 95-yard return for a touchdown at the start of the second quarter.

Coach Oliver Lucas (Science) said Manual played a great game and played exactly how they were supposed to, even without Nero in the starting running back position.

“Our team performed like they should have. One person doesn’t make the team, the team makes the team,” Coach Lucas said. “People just got a chance to see that we have other components that make us pretty good both offensively and defensively.”

Comstock said Manual’s team played well; however, there is always room for improvement.

“Our team can be more crisp on running our routes, I need to throw more accurate passes, but altogether we just need to study more film and work harder in practice and we will get even better,” Comstock said.

Gordon performed well in Nero’s absence.

“Trae did great,” Comstock said. “We’re going to miss Mike but we’re glad to have Trae.”
