Keys to the game: Manual football versus Ballard

1. Gain an edge on special teams

Over the past few weeks, the Crimsons have capitalized on special teams plays, especially on punt and kick returns. If the special teams can stay explosive, it will be tough for Ballard to keep up in the game.

2. Take advantage of the bye week

After a much-needed bye week, the Crimsons are refueled and ready to take on the rest of their schedule. Look for the Crimsons to be stronger and faster on the field this week coming off the bye week. They will use this to tire out Ballard, which may be the deciding factor in the end.

3) Look for the big play

That game changing moment. The play that turns the tide. Every week the Crimsons have had one. Week one against Central, receiver Jailen Carter’s (11, #11) one handed grab in the second quarter to give the Crimsons the edge for the rest of the game. Week two against Fern Creek, Antonio Hassel’s (12, #19) punt return to put the game away in the 4th quarter. Week three against Seneca, quarterback Tim Comstock’s 4th down scramble for a touchdown that got the offense on track and they never looked back. Everyone will be wondering who will make the play that will change the game.

Prediction: The Crimsons will come in motivated to get a statement win. The offense and defense will work together in harmony, leading to a 40-10 Crimson victory.

The Crimsons and Bruins will kick off Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Manual Stadium. Stay tuned to RedEye and follow @theCSPNSports on Twitter for coverage.
