Swim and Dive season to begin soon

This Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, swim team head coach JC Barnett and assistant coach Evan Mulikan are holding meetings for swimmers and divers for the beginning of the season.

Practices start on Monday, October 3 and are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There are no tryouts to participate in the sport; the only requirement to be on the team is commitment. There is also no pre-season team conditioning.

Some of the swimmers are conditioning by themselves. “I work out with a trainer over the summer since practice starts a couple months after school does,” said Jackie Pi (10). “I try to go to the gym as much as possible and work on my endurance.”

There’s a $225 fee to join the team if swimmers are not USS (United States Swimming) swimmers. This fee goes toward swim meets, invitationals, and renting pool time at Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center where the team practices.

“I am very excited to start the season,” said year-round swimmer Sarah Love (11). “People who want to be on Manual’s swim and dive team need to be able to commit and work hard.”
