As Black History Month begins, here are some things to do around Louisville in order to celebrate throughout the month.
Feb. 1-28: Spotlight on African American Innovators
Location: Louisville Free Public Library, Portland Branch, 3305 Northwestern Parkway.

Learn about African-American Innovators with interactive displays for everyone and information that you can take with you. Held at the Portland library branch everyday.
Feb. 9th: Delia Webster Valentine Tea for Children
Location: Oldham County History Center, 106 North Second Ave., La Grange
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pricing: Cost is $10 per person for Delia Webster Valentine Tea for Children. Registration is required.
Delia Webster was a local conductor on the Underground Railroad. She had a passion for aiding Freedom Seekers who wanted a better life, even if it meant risking her own. In honor of Black History Month, visitors to the Oldham County History Center will get the chance to meet Delia and learn more about her and her narrow escapes from the law during Delia Webster Valentine Tea for Children. This program includes tea, lunch and crafts and is a great family activity for children, parents and grandparents.
February 10: African Drumming Workshop
Location: Louisville Free Public Library, South Central Branch, 7300 Jefferson Blvd.
Time: 3 p.m.
Pricing: Free
Learn traditional West African rhythms, experience playing in an ensemble and create original music. Workshop suitable for beginners through advanced drummers.
February 11: Black Jeopardy
Location: Louisville Free Public Library, Newburg, 4800 Exeter Ave.
Time: 3-4 p.m.

Show off how much you know about black history. All ages are welcome and refreshments and prizes provided.
February 15: Women of Courage Photo Exhibit
Time: 2:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m.
Location: 1701 W Muhammad Ali Blvd
The Women of Courage event seeks to uplift, validate, empower and celebrate cancer survivors and hard-working women and their girl children from (West) Louisville to West Africa.
