End of the year student success rally

The Esports team celebrating their 2024 State Championship victories.

This Thursday, Manual held a student success rally to showcase the recent accomplishments made by students.

The pep rally began with recognizing the Academic WorldQuest team for their recent national championship in Washington, DC. WorldQuest competitions consist of 10 sets of 10 questions, in teams of four participants. One of Manual’s WorldQuest teams brought home the national title for their questions.

Next, Manual’s Technology Student Association was acknowledged for their recent wins in the TSA state conference. The Technology Student Association develops skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business education. Their state conference was held at the Louisville Marriott Downtown hotel from March 18-20. Additionally, Science Olympiad was recognized for winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in competition, which will lead them to the 2024 state championship.

Manual’s Esports team was then recognized for their three wins, all achieved in one day, at the KHSAA state championship on April 25. The team brought home wins in Super Smash Bros., League of Legends, and Splatoon 3. Their Super Smash Bros. victory was their third consecutive of four state championships, the most in KHSAA history.

The girl’s track team celebrated their victory in KHSAA’s first ever indoor track state championship. This is the fourth state victory one for the graduating seniors, meaning that they have won a state championship every year of their high school career. The girl’s track team will be competing at the outdoor state championship in Lexington, KY, in four weeks. Later, the boys and junior varsity track and field teams joined in on the gym floor to cheer with the girls.

To conclude the pep rally, Dr. Newman led the school in singing Manual’s fight song, Stand Up and Cheer, to draw the student success rally to a close.
