On Wednesday night, Manual’s girl’s varsity bowling team defeated the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers.
“We’re great, we’re one of the top three, four teams in the state and I expect us to bowl for the state championship,” head coach Ken Rowan said.
Game One:
The first game of the match started out with a strike by Grayson Manning (#7, 11) in the first frame. Lily Kilgore (#12, 12) and Morgan White (#18, 12) followed after with strikes of their own.
After several spares from the team, Liv Kunkle (#8) and Riley Roberts (#32) got strikes in the second frame.
The Lady Crimsons came out strong in the third frame with strikes from Manning, Kilgore, White, Roberts, Delaney Henon (#25, 9) and Katie Dikes (#9, 12).
Riley Borders (#30, 12) then got a spare to start out the fourth frame, with Kunkle and Roberts getting strikes to end the frame.
Borders got the only strike of the sixth frame, while many of the other players got spares.
Kilgore, Kunkle, White, and Roberts all got strikes in the eight frame.
Going into the tenth frame, Kilgore started out with two strikes and Roberts ended the frame with three strikes.
With the multiple strikes and spares bowled, the Lady Crimsons won the first game of the match.
Game Two:
The first frame of the game started out with a strike from Dikes, which was then followed by several more from Kunkle, Henon, and Roberts.
The Lady Crimsons dominated once again, this time in the third frame with strikes from Borders, Roberts, Kilgore, Kunkle, and Manning.
Manual got several more strikes and some spares in the rest of the frames. Then, in the tenth frame, Kunkle got three strikes to end the second game.
Even with the strikes bowled from the Lady Crimsons, they ultimately lost the second game and went into the Baker games tied with PRP.
Baker Games:
During the first Baker game, Manual came out and bowled three strikes and two spares. Even with their hard work, however, PRP ended up winning the first game.
In the second Baker game, Manual got six strikes and four spares, ultimately winning the game.
In order to determine the winner, it ultimately came down to the number of pins that fell, and the Lady Crimsons ended up having the most pins fall, gaining more points and beating PRP.
“We’ve never beaten them in a match, so that feels good,” Rowan said.
