One Blue Wall, Manual’s art and literary magazine, hosted their final event of the 24-25 school year, One Blue Bash, on Thursday, May 8. It took place at MaybeItsFate, a member-owned social club and art exhibition space in Butchertown. They were joined by The Ballard Collage, Ballard High School’s literary magazine, Manual’s Creative Writing and Photography clubs, CoolPixKyc Photography, Over Reaction Jewelry, The Forest of Stars Jewelry, and the band OUCH!!, who previously performed at Ramstock.
“The main goal of this event is to put [One Blue Wall’s] name out there; get more people from [Manual] involved, so more people come in and spread our name throughout the community,” One Blue Wall editor Sloane Reinke (12, J&C) said.
Other One Blue Bash vendors agreed with her sentiment.
“We want to bring exposure to [Photography] club, and showcase some of the work that the members have done,” Photography Club co-president Sonia Estes (11, HSU) said.
Because One Blue Wall wanted as many people to attend as possible, many staff members spread the word about the event, reaching out to vendors and attendees.
“This person from One Blue Wall reached out, because One Blue Wall is interested in doing a collaborative thing for their magazine release. I was like ‘tell her to hit me up,’” Stella Crigler (10, VA), vocalist for OUCH!! said.
The variety of performers and vendors made One Blue Bash an appealing event to attend. MaybeItsFate is a three floor building, and different clubs and shops were set up in separate rooms, encouraging the attendees to explore throughout the building.
“I really like to see the beautiful community of One Blue Wall and see all the creative artwork that is here,” attendee Maggie Stone (10, J&C) said. “I think it’s a beautiful display of local artisans.”
At the event, many of One Blue Wall’s previous magazines were for sale. Their upcoming magazine, “Homegrown,” is still available to preorder.
