Crimsons push past PRP

Manual defeated the PRP Panthers 34-28 last night, giving the team their seventh win on the season.

From the start of the game, the Crimsons managed to maintain possession of the ball. Andre Teague (6,12) scored a touchdown with 7:23 left in the first quarter after a one yard run. A successful kick by Nick Kopp (9, 11) gave them the extra point, putting the Crimsons up 7-0.

Manual tried to keep the ball in their possession but a fumble on the play recovered by the Panthers allowed the other team to score a touchdown with 2:19 left in the first quarter. The score was 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter had the same action as the first with another quick touchdown score by Teague with 11:56 left. A Panthers touchdown shortly followed with 9:27 left. PRP tried for a two-point conversion and took the lead 15-14. Teague ran it in for Manual’s third touchdown of the night, with only 3:43 left in the quarter. This touchdown was followed by another successful kick by Kopp. A few minutes later, the Panthers stormed back down the field scoring their third touchdown with 1:01 left in the quarter tying the score at 21.

At the start of the third quarter, the ball was all over the field. Towards the end of the quarter Teague managed to take control once more and run in the end zone for the fourth touchdown. Kopp hit yet another extra point.

PRP was down 28-21 at the start of the fourth and punted the ball to Manual. It took Manual a while to get to get a score; but in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter, Teague scored yet another touchdown; his fifth of the game. PRP tried to make a comeback. However, they ended up falling short with only one more touchdown.

“We had trouble stopping their runs and we had a lot of turnovers. We’ll just have to step up and get ready for the next one,” said Jason Hiser, PRP’s coach.

At the end of the game, Manual won 34-28 with Teague scoring all five touchdowns of the game. It was a close game but Manual was able to pull out another win.

“We had a couple turnovers and we’ll just have to come back stronger next week and play better defense,” said Teague.

“We played physical and ran the ball out like we needed to run the ball and after last week, that was pretty big,” said Coach Scott Carmoney.

The Crimsons face off against Male in their rivalry game at Male Stadium next Friday, Oct. 21.
