On Wednesday night, the girl’s varsity volleyball team won against the LKY Homeschool Saints in two sets in the last regular season home game of the season.

Since the game last night was senior night for the Crimsons, the seniors were honored on the court before the game. The parents, coaches and the rest of the team honored the players and all their accomplishments over the past few years.

“It was good to see all the seniors like show up, get their chances, and just like shine,” Nya Bunton (#5,12) explained. “Everyone here has taught me great things and really helped me grow as a person.”

Bunton was presented with her All-American team jersey before the game by Head Coach Richard Weaver and duPont Manual principal Michael Newman.

Set 1:

The first set started slowly despite lots of energy from the Crimsons. Bunton (#5,12) ended this with a serving run that led Manual to a 7-4 lead.

The Rams continued to keep the energy high on and off the court. They led for the rest of the set and won 25-15, after a service error by LKY.

Set 2:

The Crimsons received the service at the start of the second set and got the point after a kill by Abby Wheatley (#21, 12).

The Crimsons had a 4-1 lead after multiple kills and blocks by Bunton. The energy grew continuously throughout the game.

Kennedy Dawson (#10, 10) led the Rams to a 12-6 lead after a serving run. Cassidy Wilburn (#1, 11) also had a serving run that led Manual to a 21-11 lead.

The second set ended with a kill by Keller Mobley (#18, 11).

“They played really well, the energy was great all night,” Coach Weaver explained.

The Crimsons play again tonight on the road against Martha Lane Collins. The freshmen play at 5 pm, followed by JV at 6 pm and varsity at 7 pm.
