At around 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, students were ordered to evacuate the Ekstrom and Kornhauser libraries at the University of Louisville.
Campus authorities gave the all-clear just before 4 p.m., according to Amanda Carroll, a communications specialist at UofL.
At 2:17 p.m., students received a RAVE alert informing them that the University of Louisville police department (ULPD) was responding to a safety concern. They were instructed to avoid the area.
“A number of universities around the US got the exact same threat at the exact same time,” Carroll said. These threats generically mentioned “the library,” and Murray State University officials believe their threat from earlier today to have been a hoax, but UofL kept students away from those buildings out of an abundance of caution.
Another message was sent at 3:04 telling students to avoid all campus libraries until further update.
