On Jan. 23, Manual hosted its annual winter basketball homecoming dance. This year’s theme was “Dress to Impress,” and Executive Council rolled out the red carpet. The event was held in the small gym after the boys’ basketball team won against Francis Parker. The dance had high energy from the students, with many popular songs played.

The theme “Dress to Impress,” gave students the freedom to choose formal wear or comfier clothes. Some students wore dresses and heels, while others opted for jeans and sneakers.

Sarudzai Charasika (12, HSU) came to enjoy the dance after she was crowned homecoming queen, which was announced earlier, in between the basketball games.

Zoe Newman (9, J&C) took this opportunity to experience a homecoming dance, something she had not yet attended. The event allowed her to understand a different facet of high school.
“It’s my first time, and I’m really enjoying it,” Newman said.

Security Guard Jon Palmer joined the students in a dance, making the students even more excited for the night to come.

Not only did Manual students had a fun time, but students from other schools decided to join. Taliyah Alexander, a student at Central High School, attended the dance with her friend.
“I just wanted to see what it was about because my best friend goes here, so I just want to see what’s going on,” Alexander said.

Overall, the atmosphere was unmatched and was an enjoyable experience for all.
“It’s pretty hype and pretty exciting in there [dance floor],” Siena Grubben (11, VA) said. She enjoyed the opportunity to be with her friends all night.
Students were surrounded by friends and good vibes the whole night, and it was certainly a night that will be remembered.
