George, Stephen

Submissions for the 2014 Congressional Art Competition are due Friday, March 21. Hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives, the contest is intended for high-school students across the country to demonstrate their artistic ability and compete with other young artists.

Students wishing to enter have two possible options. The National Congressional Art Competition is judged by a panel from the local art community, and the winning piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building for one year. The winner of the local competition, however, will have their work displayed in Congressman Yarmuth’s District Office for one year.

All artwork must be two-dimensional, and accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. Each entry must be an original work of the artists with no copyrighted materials used in its creation.

Voting will occur from April 7 – 21, and winners will be announced in early May. More information about the competition and how to submit can be found here on Congressman Yarmuth’s website.
