Due to COVID-19, many are concerned about balancing an enjoyable Halloween while staying safe and practicing the CDC guidelines. Here is a compiled list of attractions around Kentuckiana that have ensured safety for guests from family-friendly activities to haunted houses.

Family-Friendly:

Halloween at Mall St. Matthews

The St. Matthews Mall is providing a drive-through trick or treat allowing children to dress up with little contact. Vendors will offer pre-packaged items and wear gloves while passing out candy. This event will take place on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular

This year, the annual Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular transitioned from an on-foot tour to a drive-through experience. Tickets are recommended to be purchased in advance online. Cars, SUVs and minivans are $35 per vehicle. Larger passenger vehicles like RVs and passenger vans are $50 each. Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular is located at Iroquois Park and is open every night until Nov. 1 from dusk to 11 p.m. on weeknights and dusk to midnight on weekends.

Blue’s Light Show 

A free drive through Halloween visual for all ages offered this year and located at 4602 Glenna Way Louisville, Ky. Showing evenings are Wednesdays 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. From Oct. 26 – Nov. 1 there will be a nightly showing from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Haunted attractions: 

Danger Run

This year the main attraction is accessible from your vehicle, but haunted houses can be purchased as an add-on. All workers are required to wear face masks in addition to those who attend the haunted houses. There are three locations in Kentuckiana, the Lowe’s on Hurstbourne Pwky, Lowe’s on Dixie Hwy and the Lowe’s on Veterans Pkwy in Clarksville, IN. Danger Run is open on Friday and Saturday nights until Oct. 31 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. with general admission beginning at $15 a person. 

Grim Trails

For COVID-19 Grim Trails requires all guests and actors to wear masks and take temperatures before the entrance. There will also be more spacing implemented between groups during the actual attraction. Grim Trails is open on Friday and Saturday nights leading up to Halloween until 12:30 a.m. and is located at 12009 Rehl Rd Louisville, KY. Admission costs $20 per person.  

Legend at Pope Lick

In response to COVID-19, the Legend at Pope Lick is requiring all visitors to check-in taking temperatures, answer CDC questions, wear face masks and maintain social distance. Legend at Pope Lick is open every evening until Oct. 31 with gates opening at 7:30 p.m. General admission begins at $15 per person and is recommended to be bought online in advance due to limited capacity. Legend at Pope Lick is located at 4002 S Pope Lick Rd, Louisville, KY 40299.
