Lady Crimsons fall short to Mercy

Last night, the girl’s basketball team lost to Mercy 60-75 to make their current season record 1-2.

To begin the first quarter, the two teams were neck and neck trading baskets with each other. To end the first quarter, Mercy led Manual 19-12.

To start the second quarter, Manual brought the score to 22-20, with Mercy leading following back-to-back threes by Gracie Brown (#23, 10). Though, following turnovers by Manual and second-chance points from Mercy, the lead began to grow as the first half ended with Mercy in front 41-32.

Despite a five-point run by the Lady Crimsons during the third quarter, multiple plays by Mercy’s Alyssa Murphy (#32, 9) allowed Mercy to take a commanding lead 60-45 to end the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Mercy held their lead despite Manual trying to back a late comeback but the game resulted in a 75-62 win for Mercy.

The leading scorers for last night’s game were Mercy’s Leah Macy (#44, 9) with 24 points and Alyssa Murphy with 19 points. The leading scorers for Manual were Jakayla Thompson (#3, 11) with 20 points and Sydne Tolbert (#5, 11) with 17 points.

The Lady Crimsons will play against their district opponent, Shawnee Friday at 6.
