On Wednesday, Dec. 4, Manual’s girls’ and boys’ swim team delivered a stellar performance in various events at Central High School.
The first event of the night was the girls 200-yard medley relay made up of Zoe Zheng (9, MST), Zoe Ziegler (11, HSU), Nora Wolf (11, HSU) and Jamie Lewis (9, HSU) who took first place, with a final time of 2:06:03.
The boys 200-yard medley relay team, Maxwell Moss (12, HSU), George Deal (9, MST), Henry Lin (11, MST) and Adam Burt (11, MST), also took first place with a time of 1:51:63.
In the girls 100-yard freestyle, Lewis won with a time of 58:55 and Ziegler took third place with 1:03:24. In the boys 100-yard freestyle, Moss took second place with a time of 58.63.
“I’m excited for the swim season. I think I’m definitely going to get faster with my amazing coach,” Andrew Haller (10, HSU) said.
Wolf won the girls 100-yard individual medley, with a final time of 1:11:76. In the same event, Abigail Coty (11, J&C) placed third with 1:15:07.
In the boys 100-yard medley, the Crimsons swept the event, with Deal in first, Lin in second and Burt placing third.
In the girls 50-yard freestyle, Zheng was Manual’s top placer, taking third place. In the boys 50-yard freestyle, Deal took another win, with a time of 25.35.
In the girls 50-yard butterfly, Lewis placed highest out of Manual’s swimmers once more in second place, with a time of 29.32. For the boys 50-yard butterfly, Thomas Rouchka (10, YPAS) placed highest in third place, his time being 30.27.
The Lady Crimsons took another win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a time of 2:06:39. The boys also took a win in their freestyle relay with a time of 1:45:69.
In the girls 50-yard backstroke, Wolf took second with a time of 33.40, while Lin placed first in the boys 50-yard backstroke. His time was 29.61.
The Lady Crimsons swept the top three spots in the 50-yard breaststroke, with Coty placing first with a time of 36.91. Navarre Wiese Baharestan (12, J&C) placed first in the boys 50-yard breaststroke, with a time of 30.32.
The final event of the night was the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Manual’s girls’ and boys’ teams both took first place.
“I got a very positive attitude about this team, but we’re looking real good right now,” head coach John C. Barnett said.
The teams’ next meet will be at Central High School against the Yellowjackets on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
